I provide holistic care and support throughout the dying process. This can look like practical guidance with paperwork and planning, sitting vigil with your and your family or personal assistance with preparing for your end of life.
Some ways I can work with you or your family are:
I can support you early on in diagnosis, or towards the end.
I can help you with organizing legal papers such as wills, Power of Attorney, or Medical Directives.
I can help you write out your preferences that may include things like what music you’d like to have in your room, if you want to be at home, if you want your favourite pillow or blanket with you at all times.
I can help you create a legacy project - a meaningful, creative activity with the intention that shares your personal message.
I can sit vigil at your bedside when friends or family can’t be with you.
I can help with thinking through funeral wishes or with having challenging conversations with loved ones.
Even if you are not at end of life, having someone guide you through thinking about your mortality, your wishes, and how to be as best organized as you can is a transformational exercise. You may want to consider a death cafe.
There are many ways to work with an End of Life Doula, and all of them are the right way.
I took my training through Douglas College.
